It’s been another busy month of writing with some very
fine results. A nice mixture of pieces of micro-fiction, flash fiction, and poetry have
all been accepted for publication.
I
received five acceptance letters this month:
· Conceit
Magazine/The Ultimate Writer: I won the January Flash Fiction Contest sponsored by Conceit Magazine; PTP
Publishing. My winning short fiction piece, “A Birthday Party in Winter in
Southern California,” will be published in The
Ultimate Writer in March. (Feb. 5, 2015/Notified)
·
101 Words: This online journal has quickly become a new
favorite of mine. I read it every
morning. My submission, “Rock, Paper, Scissors” was accepted and then published on February 25, 2015. (Feb.17, 2015/Notified) ~~~
Edited to Add: I just found out my entry won the monthly contest! My little story received the highest number of comments and shares. Yay! I already loved this site, but now I love it even more. :) (March 2, 2015/Edited) ~~~ http://www.101words.org/rock-paper-scissors/

The
Citron Review: A piece of Micro-Fiction was accepted
for publication with this online journal. This was the first time I've submitted to The Citron Review so I
was really excited to hear back from the fiction editor. We did a few edits and
cuts via email, a completely painless process, and voila, “After the Funeral”
will be published in the Spring 2015 issue. (Feb. 20, 2015/Notified)
·
Illya’s
Honey: My poem, “Blow Off the Dust,” was accepted on the 20th.
This poem is a follow-up piece to a previous poem, “42 Days Since the Death of
His Wife." And I've also written a third
poem in this series entitled, “Light of a Low-Hanging Moon.” I just submitted
this third poem for the first time today, so we shall see. Hopefully it will
find a home soon as well. (Feb. 20, 2015/Notified)
Edited to Add: "Light of a Low-Hanging Moon" was just accepted by Dead Snakes. (March 2, 2015/Edited) :)

Pyrokinection;
Kind of a Hurricane Press: Three poems were accepted and will
be published online on March 3, 2015. Interestingly, I initially submitted these
three pieces to be considered for the Mind[Less]
Muse, but they weren't quite right for that journal’s format and so were
accepted for Pyrokinection instead. A
pleasant surprise. No complaints. :) (Feb. 21, 2015/Notified)

February was also another busy month for rejections.

2015-02-26 Postcard Poems and Prose / 1 Cinquain
2015-02-26 Up the Staircase Quarterly / 3 Poems

And finally, February was also a very nice month for
online publications. Interestingly, most of them went live at the beginning of the
month, coinciding with the week of my birthday. That was pretty darn special.
Additionally, the final publication for the month, "Rock, Paper, Scissors," turned out to be the winner of the monthly contest sponsored by 101 Words. I'm so pleased with that one. And that makes two contests I won in February. It's been a great month. I’m one happy writer these days. :)

It’s been a wonderful month. This report turned out
to be even longer than expected. And now back to work for me. Until next time.
Keep on writing. :)
